Aussie Flat White // London, UK

Tea, scones, social etiquette, rain at the most inconvenient of times, polo- yes the Brits can stamp their Royal Crown of Excellence on these. Coffee on the other hand….well it simply ain’t the same as the tea procedure darling.

Raise your umbrellas if like moi, one cannot find a decent latte or cappuccino or even  the slightest resemblance to a frothy mocha in the oh so trendy streets of London.

Costa, Pret, Nero have it all wrong. You can’t even trust the last choice, seemingly fail proof Starbucks for a decent brew. So I thought my coffee days were over or at least confined to the walls of my apartment, which we all know is no fun even if 2.5 pounds per day cheaper - equating to a total saving of 17.5 pounds per week which is approximately 70 pounds per month if we’re in February (OMG!!!) .

Alas, then I found Flat White. And then I heard it was run by an Aussie-Kiwi duo. Crikey! We may have a saviour.

Flat White on bustling Berwick Street is just all that. That bare interior with nothing but a few black tables lined up against one side and the shhhwwwwiiiirrrr of the big black coffee machine on the other side. That frothy (yes! frothy not watery!) milky concoction in slender glasses served on small white plates with a black square serviette placed underneath. That barrister with the low Ksubi jeans, faded black oversized t-shirt and Bondi hair swept to one side. That stamp your card get your tenth free coffee trick. That Australian-esque cafe. I’ve found it. Flat White.
